Groups that register a meeting as “families and friends only” may decide to hold an occasional meeting open to observers in order to reach out to professionals and others interested in Al-Anon. people whose lives are affected by someone else’s drinking. People who may come to such meetings occasionally include students and professionals who work with alcoholics but do not necessarily feel that they have personally been affected by alcoholism.
